The Dr. John Woodenlegs Memorial Library serves as both an academic and community library. The library loans materials to members of the Northern Cheyenne Community, Chief Dull Knife students, faculty and staff as well as the surrounding area. An interlibrary loan service is provided as well. The Dr. John Woodenlegs Memorial collection consists of 24,688 cataloged books, CD’s, DVD’s, videos, manuscripts, photographs and documents. The library subscribes to 112 newspapers, journals and magazines. The periodical collection is one of the strongest in the area. There is a special collection devoted to Northern Cheyenne and Native American books, videos, DVDs and other material. The library houses the Two Moons Children’s Collection. The Children’s collection consists of 4,000 books and DVD’s. The collection focuses on Native American Literature for children.
To register for a library card and to check out material one must have proof of a current and local address. Books are checked out for two weeks. DVD’s are checked out for two days. Restrictions are placed on users with overdue materials on their records and they may not check out more items.
Do not lend your books or other library materials to anyone else. You are responsible for those items that you checked out.
There are eight computers in the library for students, faculty, staff and residents of the Northern Cheyenne Community for research, projects and email. In addition the library has eight laptop computers available for students only. Laptops may be checked out for library use only. Please limit your time to two hours so that others can have access to the computers. Must be 18 years of age to use the computers.
Off-campus access to journals and databases are available to CDKC students, faculty, and staff only. When you try to use a database or access journals from the CDKC Library's website you will be prompted for a logon and password.
